I'm on IB1, and I'm currently thinking of transferring from VA SL to HL. It wasn't possible for me earlier as I had 4 HL's, but I just now dropped maths to SL so I could technically transfer to VA HL. However I'm a bit worried about having visual arts as an HL subject as I'm quite sure it'll be almost as time consuming as maths HL. So my question is, is visual arts HL worth it? And how do universities (other than "art unis") react to someone who has visual arts HL during the admission process?

From what i know about art HL from my friends is that its so time consuming and there are two main differences, the amount of work you're expected to do, and the criteria (its more strict)

For HL also its more studio work, check the HL guide because its a lot more demanding than SL

Thanks for your advice! I looked into the criteria and such today, and I think I will transfer to VA HL still :)

HL offer more time in class which is can be beneficial in brainstorming more ideas, working project, and stuff. In my current VA i have only 1 SL student and moving to HL seems to be a very good choice...(It's my opinion tho)

However as HL subject it's true that the markscheme will be stricter than SL but as long as you loves art anything will be fine..( again it's my opinion. Hahahaha...)
