There are plenty of textbooks for the exact same subject that come from different publishing houses so it's up to you to decide which ones work the best for you. That being said, here's the OG website where you can find just about anything IB: https://ibresources.github.io/ . You'll have to click on the main server under "IB BOOKS" in order to access everything and once you get there, you'll have books for all the subjects in every program; MYP, pre-diploma, DP, etc. Hope you found this useful :)

This website for example in mathematics says IB pre diploma middle years which is listed as SL and then there is HL
Is HL more for grade 9-10 versus sl for middle school
Please explain

Ok. Basically, you have two level of courses that you can take in IB: standard level (SL) and higher level (HL). Standard level consists of two semesters worth of material while higher level consists of around three semesters wort of material. Higher level is generally regarded as the more advanced version of a subject since it has more extensive assignments and just more assignments in general. Nonetheless, both are meant to be grade 9-10 level or otherwise, they would not have published the middle year programme textbook. Hope this was helpful :)

Any particular resources for French?

So, I am going to assume that you are asking for French A supplies since the French B/AB initio are in the Language Acquisition folder. Honestly, as someone who is currently taking French A LAL, it is extremely difficult to find any good ressources for the class. What I would suggest is looking in the manuals for your class in english. For example, if you are going to be taking French A Literature, look into the English A Literature manual since it is fundamentally the same course, just in a different language. Furthermore, practicing with the French B manual can help improve the french skills if they are in need of improvement. Have fun exploring the ressources :)

The only difference between the two courses are their levels of difficulty. French A was built for students who are proficient in French and consequently, has more extensive tests and projects. On the other hand, French B is for students who understand the language but are not necessarily fluent. Therefore, the tasks for the class are not as difficult and may vary from those in French A since they do not need as deep a knowledge of French for success. Hope you get the difference now :)
