I'm soon starting the IB and as a career I want to be a Chemical Engineer. I won't take both subjects because it'll definitely be too hard, so which one should I take as HL?

I did Chem HL may 2018 and I thought the subject was really good, it always felt like a good mix of memorization and understanding.
Can‘t say anything on physics though.

wouldn’t universities require both?

@Alk8 some do (cambridge), but most on the US don't and some in the UK don't either

Lol so this one is an interesting topic. I do physics SL and have actively worked with students who are doing HL and checked the HL parts out. First of all, Physics in general is ALOT of work. My teacher struggled to finish the course and actually ended up making the students teach themselves the HL topic. If your grade is better in Chem for grade 10(year 11), go for that because your foundation knowledge needs to be very strong for Physics.
