Hi everyone, so I’m currently writing the procedure for my bio HL ia and I would appreciate your help. I want to test the effect of natural preservatives on mold growth on fruits/vegetables etc. yet I’m not sure how I would gather quantitative data from that. Any ideas?

I know this is hard but this is all i can think of right now: maybe you can cut thin slices of the vegetable/fruit (like using a mandoline slicer or something) and then cut them into squares/rectangles with the same measurements, weigh them, and then after they develop the mould you can cut off the parts that have the mold on them and weigh that and say the percentage (by weight) of the piece affected was x%. This wont be easy especially if your pieces are too small for the scale to even pick up, but weight was the only thing that i could think of because measuring the mold with a ruler could be harder if its very tiny and just giving the number of mold spots observed is too broad... hope this helps
