I am worried for the upcoming exams because i am really bad in one of my HL subjects. I am sure I can get above 24 points and get good grades in all my other classes, but im really worried for this single one. Does anyone know if it is allowed to get a 3 in an HL exam? Does it have to be a certain grade for each individual paper or is it only the final grade that is calculated from all the papers + IA?

A 3 is fine but if you get a 2/7 in any subject (overall grade: exams+IA) then you wont be able to get the diploma

its not ok. 3 is a failing grade and you won’t get the diploma if you fail any of your higher levels. id say study a lot and try to do your best.

There are no more than three grade 3s or below awarded (HL or SL). h. The candidate has gained 12 points or more on HL subjects (for candidates who register for four HL subjects, the three highest grades count). This is taken straight from the IB website

You need to have at least 12 points for HLs but u need at least a 4 for each. But if u have already submitted ur college applications and ur predicted grade is equal or above the requirement for that course, u can still get in
