So I’m thinking of comparing and contrasting two national anthems for my MLI however my teacher isn’t too stoked on that idea. I’m not sure why that is, as I do have two links connecting them as well as the songs do fulfill the requirement of being two distinct cultures. Should I just find a new pair of songs entirely, or would I fine with this?

//also on a side note, are we supposed to compare and contrast songs, cultural genres, or both? My teacher claims the first, however I’ve been researching other MLI ideas and seemingly lots of people go for the second one.//

I think you compare music genres. I think it’s a better idea to not do anthems because even though they have musical element that are part of the country’s culture, it is not the country’s traditional music and most of them have similar element. You could do something about an era of the western world’s classical music with an Asian or an African traditional culture or compare 2 modern wester genres that are very different (eg metal and jazz)
