I am thinking about my IB classes a little early and i want to take HL bio and HL math, and i don’t know what to make my third HL. I wanted to know if I should do it in my foreign language, but I’m not fluent in Spanish. I’m pretty good at it, and I wanted to know from someone who has taken HL Spanish who isn’t a native speaker. Thank you for reading this anyway!

I take HL French and the class is really based on literature and minimal grammar review, but I guess that really depends on how your teacher/school structures the curriculum. I decided to SL Spanish as an elective and the teacher really emphasizes the literature and oral portions of the IB exams, and does not really “teach” the language anymore. If you have a good grasp on the language, go for HL! I’m sure you can handle it.

Thank you, that’s a great breakdown no one has told me yet. I still have all this year to learn the language, and I’m pretty good at understanding texts in my English classes, so if I understand Spanish this would be good. Thank you again
