so i just got my 2nd FOA back, and i got a 5. i got a 5 on my first one and the teacher said i did a huge improvement and so did everyone else in class. then i got the same grade... basically, she gave me a lower grade than i deserved. other people in my class have gotten unreasonable grades as well, for instance this girl who got a 7 when her presentation was kinda bad. so my question is whether there is a way to ensure that i get a remark or something? i know that the ib samples some of the presentations but i figured since they’re not written work then there’s not all that much they can control it.
any suggestions?

yuuiliaa is somewhat right and wrong. The FOA is indeed internally assessed, meaning the subject teacher is essentially the one who grades you on the FOA and inputs those grades onto IBIS.

However, to prevent “fraud” and the IB simply checking the grading by school teachers is indeed fair, the IB will ask for a video recording of that FOA and ensure the teacher’s grade would match up with an external examiner’s mark. But they only do this rarely since, in the end, it is not supposed to be for external assessment like the Written Tasks.

At least, that’s how it’s done in our school; our English teacher video recorded all our presentations.

We didn’t get recorded because it is fully graded internally. So no remark possibilities. Also you shouldn’t know your FOA grade so avoid things like this
